Women of TBA
The Women of TBA is our Sisterhood and plays an integral part in synagogue life, providing events for women of all ages. Funds raised throughout the year support our schools, our parent-led Saturday services for young children, and other programs at TBA and throughout the East Bay Jewish Community.
Men's Club
Men's Club members perform important tasks for the synagogue while socializing with each other as well. They provide Kiddush cups for every Bar and Bat Mitzvah, coordinate ushers for services, organize fishing trips and weekend retreats, host a Thanksgiving Day breakfast, and raise money for good causes that help enhance synagogue life.
Social Action
This committee's goal is to further our collective commitment to Tikkun Olam -- repair of the world. The emphasis is on realizing our Jewish values and traditions through performance of mitzvot, including direct services and advocacy regarding social issues to Jews in the East Bay. Participation can be a one-time activity or ongoing. Your suggestions are always welcome.
Membership
The goal of the Membership Committee is three-fold. We develop outreach programs to attract new members to our synagogue, provide a warm welcome to our new members, and sponsor ongoing involvement opportunities for all our congregants. There are many different ways for you to participate with this committee whether on a one-time basis or as an ongoing committee member. This year we plan to develop a WEB page for our synagogue as well as new programs for interfaith families and single members. We also plan to continue to host the regular events listed below:
* New Member Coffee
* New Member Shabbat and Dinner
* Make a Match & Mentors for New Members
* Share-a-Seder
Be sure to check our column, "Memos from Membership" in The Omer each month for updates on these and other membership activities. If you have questions, suggestions or would like to join this dynamic, fun-loving group, contact the committee.
Programming
The NEW Programming Committee Needs you: A committee is now being formed to create innovative programs for our YOUTH, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES at TBA. We'll be mapping out exciting new directions as well as continuing our favorite programs. Come join us! Please contact Bonnie Burt.
Make a Match - Make A Difference - Be a Mentor
Remember when you were a new member at TBA? Did you ever feel a little awkward at the oneg after services wishing you new at least one person or family to say hello to and sit with? I certainly did! The Make a Match Mentor Program is here to help our new members and families avoid that 'new kid on the block' feeling.
Make A Match will give current TBA members the opportunity to provide a personal welcome to our temple and temple community for our new members and families. As a mentor, your involvement could be a simple as an introductory phone call welcoming them and letting them know you are available should questions arise. We have lots of other ideas for things to do as a mentor and will be happy to share them with you should you decide to participate.
We are looking for volunteers, both individuals and families to act as mentors for our incoming members. We know how little extra time there seems to be in our hectic lives, so as a mentor you may do as much or as little as your schedule permits.
If you would like more information about Make a Match or would like to volunteer to host a new member or family, please contact Anne Levine.
